Well the Cheapest RTX 4080 I can find right now (USA) is $1199.99 with good AIB Cards available around $1299.99. Not saying it will have as much longevity as AM4, but still better than nothing, as AM4 is already dead by now. Now for the CPU : IMO getting the 7800X3D is a better move than 5800X3D, as you get both the overall fastest gaming CPU currently available and the newest AM5 socket, which gives somewhat of an upgrade path without changing motherboards. Just buy what performs better right now, don't look too much into 'future proofing' etc (even though I mentionned more VRAM as somewhat 'future-proofing' lul). Same goes for nvidia and driver issues for some games (even though way less alarming than Radeon). Might be fixed in a few months (although we're already 4 months after release and they're still not fixed), in more than a year or even never. For VR and RT on 7900 XTX, we don't know yet how much it is hardware or driver-bound. So like most people recommend in the forum : look at the games you typically play and pick the card that performs better. Want the comfort of having more VRAM for high texture quality in games in the future, You prefer better rasterized performance in games, You also use your GPU for professional Applications (rendering etc) You want to enable Ray-tracing at 4k in games, It comes down to personal preference and some specific use cases : I have tried playing various of games such as Hogwarts Legacy, Last of Us, and Red Dead Redemption, all having crashed.įurthermore, when installing the graphics drivers, it appears that they are duplicating when changing the driver in Device Manager (see attached photo).With a 7800X3D, both cards will give you an overall very great gaming experience, for a similar price (depending on GPU prices where you live ofc). I have uninstalled and reinstalled the latest drivers for my GPU, as well as the previous version drivers, but I am still having this issue after 5 days. Since then, I have constantly been receiving errors stating that 'AMD software detected that a driver timeout has occurred on your system' (see attached photo). The only way for me to resolve this was to force shut down my PC.
